Architect Hiroshi Nakamura
Born in Tokyo in 1974. He joined Kengo Kuma & Associates in 1999 and established NAP Architects in 2002. He currently serves as a specially appointed professor at the School of Science and Technology, Meiji University.
His philosophy centers on “microscopic design” that responds closely to natural phenomena, human behavior, and emotional movement, with the aim of building an organic relationship between “architecture, nature, and the human body”.
He strives to create “architecture that is unique to its location”, in harmony with the local context: its history, culture, industries, and materials. In recent years, his work has focused on rediscovering and reinterpreting these principles through Japan’s traditional architecture and garden culture.

Guestroom

Interior Design – Jamo Associates –
Norito Takahashi

Jamo Associates was founded in 2000 by interior designer Norito Takahashi and interior stylist Chinatsu Kambayashi.
The designer and stylist collaborate closely, drawing on their respective perspectives and complementing each other’s strengths.
They aim to create “spaces that move the heart,” adapting their methods and approaches freely in response to each client’s needs.
Their work spans a wide range of projects, from styling pages in magazines, furniture production, window displays, and retail stores, to restaurants, offices, and hotel design.

Restaurant

A Japanese dining experience curated by Zaiyu Hasegawa, chef owner of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant “DEN”, featuring seasonal ingredients nurtured by the natural surroundings of Karuizawa.
Within a serene space surrounded by nature, each dish expresses a singular blend of creativity and playfulness—an encounter that can only be experienced in this place and moment.
Thoughtfully prepared to bring out the true character of each ingredient, the cuisine is paired with warm, attentive hospitality to create a truly memorable dining experience.
Seating: 48 seats (including private rooms and counter seating)

Restaurant Supervision - DEN - Zaiyu Hasegawa

Born in Tokyo in 1978, he trained at the long-established Japanese restaurant “Uwotoku” before opening “DEN” in Jinbōchō, Tokyo, in 2007. Within just three years, DEN earned two Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2011.
In 2018, the restaurant ranked No.1 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants and No.11 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
His approach to Japanese cuisine is both playful and deeply respectful of tradition—highlighting Japan’s rich ingredients and cultural heritage while offering a fresh, creative perspective. Through international collaborations and events, he continues to share his vision of modern Japanese cuisine with the world.
